I started with tape then through many decades it is now a computer and a interface.Ī: I try to give a track the punch and impact expected from a modern track but while still adding that vintage warmth that we all know and love. However I have also been a recording musician for longer then that. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?Ī: I am a multi-award winning Film editor for over 21 years. A lot can be done to get good sounds but nothing is perfect. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?Ī: Manage your expectations, especially if your tracks weren't recorded with the best equipment or are not perfectly recorded or performed. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?Ī: How large is the session and what is the sample rate? Is there special plugins that may need to be baked into the track if they need to be in the song that I may not have. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?Ī: That this has to be a really expensive expense. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?Ī: Do you mix only particular genres? No I will try to mix them all! Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?Ī: To do my absolute best to realize their artistic vision and hopefully elevate it even higher for them!Ī: I love getting something raw and bringing it all together for the artist in a polished and concise way. I don't do much audio engineering these days, just mixing.Ī: I like to mix music that has that analog vibe but editing and mixing for me is better and more flexible in the digital world. It was such a pleasure to engineer as well as edit and mix these artists. I turned a hotel suite into a fully functional multitrack recording studio. Q: What are you working on at the moment?Ī: I just finished 10 hotel suite sessions with a variety of artists at SXSW. I really love collaborating with other talented individuals! We co produced the album and I did all the audio engineering. We got together and crafted an entire rock album out of it. She had written an album worth of singer songwriter songs just vocal and acoustic guitar parts. What was your role?Ī: I work with a lot of indie artists but my favorite is Michele Zaccone.
